MEP Welcomes Commission Decision on Broadband for all of Scotland

3.50.00pm UTC (GMT +0000) Wed 30th Apr 2008

Elspeth Attwooll MEP has welcomed news that the European Commission has approved £3.4 million worth of public funding to upgrade and extend broadband services to rural and remote areas of Scotland.

The Liberal Democrat Member for Scotland said:

"This is great news. Many constituents have contacted me in the past concerning the lack of broadband coverage in certain areas of Scotland, and the negative impact upon small and local businesses. I hope this funding will now provide an affordable and comprehensive service, as it is important that all of Scotland is covered".
